![]() | Getting the Most Out of Sendies |
Sendies is where people get together to put words and photos, willy-nilly, all over their own page on the web, a page called a 'Sendie', to send someone a message, loudly and colorfully. Working with a Sendie is like playing with a kid's drawing program.
Getting Around a Sendie
| The Navigator Cross helps us get around a Sendie. The Navigator works like all the other ones of these you see around on the Internet... except for the Home Button. | |
![]() | The Home Button. Clicking this baby button takes you to back the opening scene of a Sendie - the one that shows all the messages and photos in your Sendie all in a single view, at the same time, shrinking them if necessary. This can be very useful. Why? Because we can get lost in a Sendie. The size of a Sendie can be very large. In fact it can be 16 million trillion pages wide and just as tall. It is also 3D and can also be very deep. Right now we only go 8 levels deep - but in the future, if there is demand, we can go very deep, as in so deep that a little dot on the screen might contain 100s of pages of messages. |
Making a New Sendie Page
Just click on ADD NEW SENDIE at the top of any page to be catapulted to a page that let's you set up your new Sendie.
To: Just like an old fashioned USPS letter, the name of the person and/or organization this Sendie is for.
From: Either you, or more likely, the name of the group of people who are going to be adding their messages to this Sendie. [Hey, don't leave people thinking they can't do something like, say, To Dogs From CATS if they want to - and we all know that cats can't possibly be bothered with adding their own messages to a Sendie - their human will have to do it for them.]
About: What is this all about? Think of something. Use the About to try and herd the people posting messages on your Sendie to the topic you want it to be ... about.
Link: Sometimes a Sendie is about a Blog, or a Website, or a whatever, that has a website. Setting the link to their webaddress allows people to click on the To and go directly to their site.
Viewing: Some Sendies everyone can see, some only members can see, some require an invitation, some only your friends can see, and some are private - only the author can see them.
Editing: Similarly, some Sendies everyone can edit, some only members can edit, some require an invitation, some only your friends can edit [Ok, Ok, I think they get it, Oh Long-Winded-One], and some are private - only the author can edit them.
All these options can be changed later, by clicking on [Edit Header] at the top of the Sendie whenever you are editing it. So be cool, be cool. As long as you set the To, From and About to something, you'll be AOK.
Adding Words and Art to a Sendie
![]() | Whenever you see the pen at the upper right of a Sendie, you can click on it to edit the Sendie. You can, of course, edit your own Sendies whenever you are logged in - but you still have to click on the pen! | |
![]() | Whenever you see the flat screen monitor at the upper right of a Sendie, you can click on it to view the Sendie. Mostly this just hides all the clutter and shows the Sendie the way your visitors will see it. |
For now, we'll let the drawing thingies describe themselves...
Enjoy!
